Ernest and Lillian Meeker (age 82). Ernest is
Lillian's loving husband and caregiver. Lillian
is developing dementia and with respite breaks,
Ernest is able to provide her care

Bonnie Sue and Gerald Tiller, married 53 years.
Gerald had a traumatic brain injury. After receiving
a S.C. Respite Coalition voucher, she wrote,

“I really enjoyed my time that I got.
It seems strange to get to go out and have
some time to myself. I’m dreaming of when
time comes and I can spend the night away.
I have been closed in for 3 ½ years."

“This was a gift from heaven just when I needed it most.
I really can tell a difference since I was able to get out of the house
to enjoy some “me” time. Thank you so very much….
I’m no longer on anti-depressant meds.
I would like to receive these services again if possible. “

- Patricia G., parent of a 20-something son who has Autism.

"My husband and I got to go away for one night
for our 34th wedding anniversary!"

- Diane P., parent of teenage son with debilitating seizure disorder who is never left alone, night or day, because injuries sustained during his very physical violent seizures are so serious

"Thank you so much for providing the respite voucher…
this allowed me time to take care of personal things
for myself. During difficult days and nights, it allowed me
to have someone else in my home to help with him."

"Thank you for allowing me to participate in your program."

- Peggy T., caring for her 74 year-old husband who had a stroke.

"I went to watch my son graduate from basic training in another state! Thank you!"

- Lyn M., daughter of 87 year old mother with Alzheimer’s Disease

"First of all smooches for all the love you are sharing.
I thank you all for all the concern I’ve never
experienced in all the 18 years of taking care of my son."

"I felt no one cared…. I was always told I would have to pay someone,
which I could not afford. With the voucher, I had some vacation
and took care of my medical appointments."

"Thank you and God bless you all."

- Tammi L., Mother of 40-something year old son with quadriplegia.
